How Core Sampling and Analysis Works
Core sampling involves the physical removal of small diameter samples from building materials for laboratory analysis. Using specialized core drills or punch tools, we extract samples of drywall, wood, insulation, concrete, or other building materials from suspect areas. The samples are sealed in moisture-proof containers and sent to an accredited laboratory for analysis. Testing can include: gravimetric moisture content (actual water weight percentage), mould species identification via DNA analysis, chloride content testing for concrete structures, and material degradation analysis. Core sampling provides the most definitive evidence of moisture conditions and is used when insurance claims or legal proceedings require laboratory-verified documentation.
