Underground Leak Detection Across British Columbia

Water mains, service lines, irrigation, storm drains and fire suppression lines — located precisely using acoustic correlation, tracer gas and CCTV so repairs are targeted, not exploratory.

Underground Leak Detection Services

Each underground system has its own detection method — we select and combine the right approach for your pipe material, depth and location.

Precise Location — Minimal Disruption

Acoustic correlation places the leak to within a metre — one small excavation pit, not a trench
Tracer gas locates leaks on plastic PEX and HDPE pipe that makes little acoustic sound
Works on pressurised lines without interrupting service
Pressure testing confirms and quantifies the leak before digging begins
CCTV inspection assesses gravity-flow drain and sewer condition from inside
Written reports with located position — suitable for engineers, insurers and property managers

Frequently asked questions

What types of underground leaks can you detect?

We locate leaks in pressurised water mains, private service lines, irrigation mains and laterals, fire suppression lines, and identify defects in gravity-flow storm sewers and drains using CCTV, acoustic correlation and tracer gas.

How do you find a leak without digging up the whole line?

Acoustic correlation uses two sensors placed at access points along the pipe (valve boxes, meter pits, hydrant connections). The system measures the time difference of the leak sound reaching each sensor and calculates the exact distance from each sensor to the leak — usually to within a metre, enabling a single small excavation.

Can you detect leaks on plastic water mains?

Yes. Plastic pipe (PEX, HDPE, PVC) transmits acoustic signal differently from metal. For smaller plastic lines or shallow-signal scenarios we use tracer gas (hydrogen) which rises through the soil and is detected with a probe at the surface.
