Gas Line Locating in British Columbia

Striking a buried gas line during excavation is one of the most dangerous utility strikes possible. A gas line rupture can cause explosion, fire, environmental release, and loss of life. Gas line locating requires specialized equipment that can induce a traceable signal on the gas pipe without compromising the integrity of the cathodic protection system. Our technicians are trained in gas utility safety protocols and use induction coupling methods that do not require direct connection to the pipe. We locate both the utility gas main and the private service line, marking the alignment, depth, and any fittings or transitions. For plastic gas lines (which are becoming standard for new installations), we use GPR to trace the pipe alignment.
