How Fluorescent Dye Testing Works
Fluorescent dye testing is a simple yet highly effective method for tracing water flow paths and identifying the exact point of water entry. A non-toxic, biodegradable fluorescent dye is introduced into the water system at a suspected source point. A UV (black) light is then used to trace the dye's path as it flows with the water. The dye will concentrate at the leak point and glow brightly under UV light, making even small leaks clearly visible. This method is particularly useful for isolating specific fixtures, testing pool and spa plumbing, and confirming suspected leak paths identified by other methods.
