How Infrared Thermography Works
Infrared thermography uses professional-grade thermal cameras to detect surface temperature variations as small as 0.03°C. When water infiltrates building materials, it creates temperature differences through evaporative cooling, thermal mass changes, and heat conduction variations. Our certified thermographers capture radiometric images that quantify these temperature differences, revealing hidden moisture patterns, insulation defects, and air leakage paths. This method is most effective during BC's heating season (October-March) when the temperature differential between interior and exterior is greatest. Thermal imaging is the primary screening tool for building envelope moisture surveys, roof leak detection, and interior moisture mapping.
