Psychrometric analysis is the study of the thermodynamic properties of moist air — specifically the relationships between dry-bulb temperature, wet-bulb temperature, relative humidity, humidity ratio, and dew point. In leak detection investigations, psychrometric analysis helps determine whether visible moisture is caused by condensation (from high humidity) or by an active water leak. By measuring temperature and humidity at multiple locations and at different times, we can identify areas where surface temperatures fall below the dew point of the surrounding air — creating condensation conditions.
