How Vapour Barrier Integrity Testing Works
Vapour barrier integrity testing assesses the effectiveness of vapour retarders installed in wall, ceiling, and floor assemblies. In BC's climate, properly installed vapour barriers are essential for preventing moisture migration from warm interior spaces into cold exterior assemblies, where condensation can cause rot, mould, and structural damage. Our testing includes visual inspection for gaps, tears, and improper sealing; thermal imaging to identify areas of vapour barrier failure during temperature differentials; and hygrometric monitoring within assemblies to assess actual moisture conditions. For new construction, vapour barrier verification is an important quality assurance step before insulation and drywall installation.
