Elevator Pit Water Entry — Critical Safety Issue

Possible Causes
- •Failed waterproofing at elevator pit walls or floor slab
- •Groundwater table rise exceeding pit drainage capacity
- •Failed sump pump in elevator pit
- •Leaking water or steam pipes within or near the pit
- •Surface water draining into pit through wall penetrations
Recommended Steps
- 1Notify building management immediately — elevator may need to be taken out of service
