Service Line & Supply Pipe Leak Detection Across BC
Locate leaks in buried supply lines from the main to your building
About This Service
The buried service line connecting the water main to your building is one of the most common sites for undetected leaks — especially on properties with older galvanised or copper lines. A slow service-line leak can run for months, saturating the soil and undermining a foundation before it is noticed. We use acoustic listening, tracer gas and pressure testing to confirm and locate the breach without exploratory digging.
Signs You May Have This Leak
Detection Process
- 1
We isolate the service line and perform a pressure test to confirm the leak.
- 2
We sweep the route with ground microphones to identify the loudest leak sound.
- 3
Acoustic correlation between the meter pit and building entry confirms the position.
- 4
For plastic lines (PEX, HDPE) that make little acoustic sound, tracer gas is introduced to the line.
- 5
We mark the surface, estimate depth and document the located position.
What You Receive
- Confirmed leak position along the service line
- Pressure test results quantifying the loss rate
- Correlation or tracer-gas locate evidence
- Excavation guidance for a targeted repair
- Report for property owner and plumber

Frequently asked questions
Can you find a leak on my private water service?
Yes — private service lines from the meter to the building are a core part of what we detect. These are fully your responsibility and are not covered by municipal leak programs.
Does it matter what material my service line is made of?
It affects which method we use — acoustic for metal lines, tracer gas for plastic, or a combination. We adapt the approach on site.
What if the line is very deep?
Depth affects acoustic signal strength. At very deep installations, correlation is most effective as it uses the time difference between two sensors rather than the absolute signal strength.
