What is fluorescent dye testing?
Dye testing adds a safe fluorescent dye to water and follows where it goes. It's especially effective for pools, decks, drains and fixtures — confirming whether water is escaping through a shell, a fitting or a specific joint, and proving the path the water takes.
How it works
- 1Non-toxic dye is added at the suspected source.
- 2We observe where the coloured water emerges or disappears.
- 3UV light enhances faint traces where needed.
- 4The confirmed path identifies the leak.
Advantages
Visually confirms the water path
Ideal for pools, decks and drains
Safe and inexpensive
Distinguishes shell vs. plumbing leaks

Dye Testing — FAQs
Is dye testing good for pools?
Yes — it's a primary method for confirming shell and fitting leaks in pools and spas.
Is the dye harmful?
No — we use non-toxic tracer dyes that are safe for plumbing and pools.
