What is infrared thermal imaging?
Infrared thermal imaging reads the surface temperature of walls, floors and ceilings. Water changes that temperature — through evaporative cooling, or because warm and cold pipes sit behind the surface — creating thermal patterns our technicians interpret to map moisture across an entire area in minutes, without touching the surface.
How it works
- 1A radiometric infrared camera captures the surface temperature of every point in view.
- 2Wet areas read cooler from evaporation; hot-water lines read warmer.
- 3We interpret the thermal pattern to outline the affected zone.
- 4Findings are confirmed with a moisture meter and saved as paired infrared/visible photos.

Thermal Imaging — FAQs
Does thermal imaging detect water directly?
It detects the temperature effect of water rather than the water itself, which is why we always confirm with a moisture meter before recommending any access.
Can it scan a whole roof?
Yes — infrared is one of the best ways to map trapped moisture across a flat or low-slope roof membrane.
