What is infrared thermal imaging?

Infrared thermal imaging reads the surface temperature of walls, floors and ceilings. Water changes that temperature — through evaporative cooling, or because warm and cold pipes sit behind the surface — creating thermal patterns our technicians interpret to map moisture across an entire area in minutes, without touching the surface.

How it works

  1. 1A radiometric infrared camera captures the surface temperature of every point in view.
  2. 2Wet areas read cooler from evaporation; hot-water lines read warmer.
  3. 3We interpret the thermal pattern to outline the affected zone.
  4. 4Findings are confirmed with a moisture meter and saved as paired infrared/visible photos.

Advantages

Completely non-contact and non-destructive
Maps large areas fast
Finds the extent of moisture, not just a point
Excellent for roofs, walls and radiant floors

Where we use it

Thermal Imaging — FAQs

Does thermal imaging detect water directly?

It detects the temperature effect of water rather than the water itself, which is why we always confirm with a moisture meter before recommending any access.

Can it scan a whole roof?

Yes — infrared is one of the best ways to map trapped moisture across a flat or low-slope roof membrane.
