What is pipe & cable locating?
Electromagnetic pipe and cable locating energises a buried line and traces its precise route and depth from the surface. Knowing exactly where a pipe runs is the first step to locating a leak on it, planning a safe dig, and avoiding costly strikes on other utilities.
How it works
- 1A transmitter applies a signal to the target line.
- 2A receiver traces the signal along the surface.
- 3We mark the route and estimate depth.
- 4This guides acoustic detection and safe excavation.
Advantages
Maps the exact pipe route
Estimates burial depth
Prevents utility strikes
Speeds up acoustic localisation

Pipe Locating — FAQs
Why locate the pipe before finding the leak?
Knowing the exact route and depth lets us survey the right line acoustically and dig safely in the right place.
Can you locate my buried sewer?
Yes — with a sonde in the camera head or a traceable signal, we mark the line's route and depth from the surface.
