What is smoke testing?
Smoke testing pushes a safe, non-toxic visible smoke through drains, vents or a building cavity. The smoke escapes wherever there is a defect — a broken drain, a missing vent, or an envelope gap — making otherwise invisible leak paths immediately obvious.
How it works
- 1Safe test smoke is introduced into the system or cavity.
- 2Smoke escapes at every defect and gap.
- 3We photograph and mark each emergence point.
- 4Findings guide drain or envelope repairs.
Advantages
Reveals multiple defects at once
Non-toxic and residue-free
Great for drains, vents and envelopes
Immediately visible results

Smoke Testing — FAQs
Is the smoke safe?
Yes — we use non-toxic test smoke that leaves no residue and clears quickly.
What does smoke testing find?
Breaks and gaps in drains, vents and the building envelope that let air and water pass.
